Born in Cuba and raised in the States, I presently live in South East Florida. Raised Catholic, from very early on I have been spiritually involved in one way or another. For the past 20 years I have been involved with Siddha Yoga, a yogic Path of Bhakti (devotion). I came to the Craft about 5 years ago and it just felt so much like a natural progression in my spirituality that I plunged right into it without hesitation.

I am an Initiate in the Welsh Grail Tradition of the Craft. I have two cats - one boy and one girl - who I love like my children. I work as an Admin Assistant for SunPass and enjoy my job very much. Aside from the Craft my passions are music (I used to sing Opera), movies (I don't know what I would do without my TV) and I love to read, read and read. I'm pretty good with computers also.

John Keats

John Keats

English lyric poet, the archetype of the Romantic writer. While still in good health, Keats was ambitious of doing the world some good, instead of focusing on his own sensitive soul. Keats felt that the deepest meaning of life lay in the apprehension of material beauty, although his mature poems reveal his fascination with a world of death and decay. Most of his best work appeared in one year.

Darkling I listen; and for many a time
I have been half in love with easeful Death
(from 'To a Nightingale')

John Keats was born in London as the son of a successful livery-stable manager. He was the oldest of four children, who remained deeply devoted to each other. Thomas, his father, was the chief hostler at the Swan and Hoop. After their father died in 1804 in a riding accident, Keats's mother, Frances Jennings Keats, remarried but the marriage was soon broken. She moved with the children, John and his sister Fanny and brothers George and Tom, to live with her mother at Edmonton, near London. She died of tuberculosis in 1810.

At school Keats read widely. He was educated at the progressive Clarke's School in Enfield, where he began a translation of the Aeneid. Keats, who was barely five feet tall, was not know at school for his enthusiasm for books, but his fighting. "My mind has been the most discontented and restless one that ever was put into a body too small for it," he wrote. 1811 Keats was apprenticed to a surgeon-apothecary. While studying for the licence, he completed his translation of Aeneid. Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene impressed him deeply and his first poem, written in 1814, was 'Lines in Imitation of Spenser.' In that year he moved to London and resumed his surgical studies in 1815 as a student at Guy's hospital. Next year he became a Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries and was allowed to practice surgery. Before devoting himself entirely to poetry, Keats worked as a dresser and junior house surgeon. In London he had met Leigh Hunt, the editor of the leading liberal magazine of the day, The Examiner. He introduced Keats to other young Romantics, including Shelley, and published in the magazine Keats's sonnet, 'O Solitude'.

Keats's first book, Poems, was published in 1817. Sales were poor. He spent the spring with his brother Tom and friends at Shankin. It was about this time Keats started to use his letters as the vehicle of his thoughts of poetry. They mixed the everyday events of his own life with comments with his correspondence. Among others T.S. Eliot considered the letters in The Use of Poetry and the Use of Criticism (1933) "certainly the most notable and most important ever written by any English poet," but also said about Keats's famous Hyperion: "it contains great lines, but I do not know whether it is a great poem." The first of his famous letters Keats wrote to Benjamin Bailey on November 22, 1817. "You perhaps at one time thought there was such thing as Worldly Happiness to be arrived at, at certain periods of time marked out - you have necessity from your disposition been thus led away - I scarcely remember counting upon any Happiness". Endymion, Keats's first long poem appeared, when he was 21. It told in 4000 lines of the love of the moon goddess Cynthia for the young shepherd Endymion. It was attacked among others by John Wilson Croker and John Gibson Lochard, who wrote in Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine: '... it has just as much to do with Greece as it has with "old Tartary the fierce;" no man, whose mind has ever been imbued with the smallest knowledge or feeling of classical poetry or classical history, could have stooped to profane and vulgarize every association in the manner which has been adopted by this "son of promise."' Although the critical reaction was lukewarm, Keats was not discouraged by it, but wrote to Richard Woodhouse: "I am ambitious of doing the world some good: if I should be spared that may be the work of mature years - in the interval I will assay to reach to as high a summit in Poetry as the nerve bestowed upon me will suffer." Keats's greatest works were written in the late 1810s, among them Lamia, The Eve of St. Agnes, the great odes and two versions of Hyperion. He worked briefly as a theatrical critic for The Champion, spent summer of 1818 touring the Lakes, Scotland and Northern Ireland. During his journey, which he made with his friend Charles Brown, a businessman, he vowed: "I shall learn poetry here and shall henceforth write more than ever." After returning to London he spent the next three months attending his brother Tom, who was seriously ill with tuberculosis.

After Tom's death in December, Keats moved to Hampstead to live with Charles Brown. Soon he fell in love with Fanny Brown, the daughter of a widowed neighbor, and they were betrothed. In the winter of 1818-19 he worked mainly on Hyperion and The Eve of St Agnes. The fragmentary Eve of St Mark were composed during a visit to his friend Charles Wentworth Dilke's parents and relatives in Sussex. In 1819 Keats finished Lamia, and wrote another version of Hyperion, called The Fall of Hyperion. His famous poem 'Ode on a Grecian Urn' was inspired by a Wedgwood copy of a Roman copy of a Greek vase. Josiah Wedgwood's copy was purchased by Sir William Hamilton, who sold it to the duchess of Portland. She denoted the vase to the British Museum in 1784.

'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,' - that is all
Ye know on earth and all ye need to know.
(from 'Ode on a Grecian Urn')

In 1820 appeared the second volume of Keats poems. It gained a huge critical success. However, Keats was suffering at that time from tuberculosis. His poems were marked with sadness partly because he was too poor to marry Fanny Brawne. Keats broke off his engagement and began what he called a "posthumous existence." In a letter from 1819 he had written. "I love you more in that I believe you have liked me for my own sake and nothing else. I have met with women whom I relay think would like to be married to a Poem and given away by a Novel." When his condition gradually worsened, he sailed for Italy in September with the painter Joseph Severn, to escape England's cold winter. Declining Shelley's invitation to join him at Pisa, Keats went to Rome, where he took up residence in rooms overlooking the Piazza di Spagna. He died in Rome at the age of 25, on February 23, 1821, and was buried in the Protestant Cemetery. Keats did not invent his own epitaph, but remembered words from the play Philaster, or Love Lies-Ableeding, written by Beaumont and Fletcher in 1611. "All your better deeds / Shall be in water writ," one of the characters says. Keats told his friend Joseph Severn that he wanted on his grave just the line, "Here lies one whose name was writ in water."

Bright star! would I were steadfast as thou art -
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
(from 'The Last Sonnet')

In spite of early harsh criticism, Keats's reputation grew after his death. The poet's letters were published in 1848 and 1878. Keats's works have influenced among others The Pre-Raphaelites, Oscar Wilde and Alfred Tennyson. Some later poets have attacked Keats and the Romantics: for T.S. Eliot Byron was "a disorderly mind, and an uninteresting one" and Keats and Shelley were "not nearly such great poets as they are supposed to be". Andrew Motion claims in his biography on Keats (1998) that the author was obsessed with sex and had venereal disease and these aspects of the poets life were hidden by early biographers, who underlined Keats's poverty, poor health, and misunderstanding criticism.

Lady Abagail

Lady Abagail

I'm a Metaphysical Coordinator or Witch..... I'm an Eclectic Witch & Pagan, a Solitary Witch, Coven HPS, Lady Shaman, Herbalist, SageWitch and Crone. I'm a Spiritual Psychic and Medium. I'm a child of the Lord and Lady, of the Old South and of the New World. I have lived all over the world and I have seen more than some dare to dream... I exist with in a world of Magick and light.

I am extremely proud to be the High Priestess of "Ravensgrove Coven." An Eclectic Coven made up of Solitary Witches in the Indy area. For those that work within a degree system I would be considered third degree in some forth, thirteenth level. But generally, that means I'm and old Witch of many years.

I am first and foremost a Witch, I work as and Eclectic Witch. I am blessed to be from a long line of Witches that encompasses both sides of the world. I am a Sagewitch or Crone. I hope to have an aged knowledge to pass on to others but I also expect to study and to learn so much more within this lifetime.

I am a raised Witch. I was given the gift of having a Great Grandmother who was a Witch. She was Cajun, half Native American and half French. She raised me in the Craft during a time when being a Witch had to be held in secret and was not considered in any way popular. Yet with heart and love I understood that anything was possible, from the powers of the Earth and within Nature.

I have worked as a Professional Psychic and Medium for more years than I like to say. My spiritual abilities are a blessing I have had since birth. I have the capability to see and understand the inter dimensions of places and things. I have a comprehendible ability to the interpret spirits and souls from within the worlds.

I am a Herb Witch, working and studying herbs my entire life. I am a Healer; I enjoy helping others when seeking to find the best ways to heal both, body and spirit in a natural and spiritual way.

I love to write. Poetry, Articles, Stories and about my life growing up as a Witch. I have written two books and am working on a third I hope to someday have published. I am fortunate to have had numerous articles and poetry featured in various Pagan publications.

As legal clergy I am certified within the Faith. I am well versed in the rituals of Handfastings, Wiccanings and Passings. I enjoy assisting those wishing to write their own rituals of Handfastings and Passings for their personal ceremonies. Teaching others and working within the faith and magick.

To all who follow the ways of Truth and Light ... Be Blessed,

Lady Hecate

Lady Hecate

WebMistress and WordWeaver of Hecate's Cauldron http://www.hecatescauldron.org/index.htm

I am a Third Degree, Elevated High Priestess in the Gardnerian/Alexandrian tradition of Wicca.  I have been practicing Paganism and Witchcraft for a number of years....too many for me to acknowledge!  Although I have earned the title of High Priestess in the highest level of the Wiccan tradition, and the years it took me to get there,  I am more Witch than anything else and no longer call myself Wiccan, as according to the Oxford Dictionary, Wicca is a male term.   I also do not follow the Wiccan religion because of its male emphasis on the Sun God and a religion entitled with a male name when it is a Goddess religion.  I am simply a Witch and Pagan.   I have never regretted the many years of training which I received as an initiated Wiccan.  I also took many workshops in the arts of magick and its symbolism, ritual work, divination, etc.

I am also High Priestess of my own coven entitled Hecate's Cauldron which is centered in Maryland. Because I am an initiated Wiccan of the highest degree; I am able to initiate others  into the Craft.

I follow the Moon and perform moon rituals.  I celebrate the true Celtic Sabbats which Gardner calls the four Greater Sabbats. What I mean by "celebrate" is that I do not do any kind of formal ritual for the Sabbats, as I feel yesteryear's pagans did more of celebrations and gathered together and celebrated rather than attending formal rituals.  The pagans lived very simple lives and were farmers who depended on the land and worked very hard just as my husband is a farmer and depends on the land and Mother Nature.

I am a tarot reader by profession and take my tarot reading seriously, meaning that I believe in my work and try to help seekers who come to me as much as possible by suggestions and recommendations. I live each day the path of a Witch and consult my Tarot and Crystal Ball.  I am dedicated to the Goddess and each month, whether the Moon be full or dark, I perform a ritual on Her behalf.

I am moderator/owner of a very successful Yahoo Group in which Witches join and share in comradery, the Goddess and magick.

Because of my love for birds of prey, I am also a licensed falconer.  In the U.S., by federal law, you have to be licensed.   What does it mean to be a licensed falconer, you ask?  It means many hours of studying and then passing a written test which is not the easiest test and going through other Federal and State regulations.  It means trapping a hawk either in the mountains, which I did, or along the roadside.  It means spending four or more hours a day with a newly trapped hawk for at least one month and then two hours a day after they are flying free during hunting season, as these birds are not pets.  We train them to accept us and to allow us to go with them when they hunt and assist them in the hunt.  They learn to follow us, as they soon realize that we help flush the prey out.  After that, it is in their talons!

It takes a lot of training, dedication and working with an immature Redtail Hawk.  An immature hawk is one whom is born in late spring and is considered a passage, as it is going through its first passage in life.    We are allowed to trap an immature redtail hawk because 80 percent of first-year born hawks do not make it.  They are either killed by motor vehicles  or die a terrible death through the means of starvation.  Once they make it through their most difficult year, they are considered a haggard (hag) and falconers are not allowed to trap them, as they are considered breeding material.  However, the average haggard hawk lives only five years or so.  A falconer's hawk, because it is taken care of and eats well, lives to the age of 20 or so.

Mrs. Suhay is the author of eight children's books, including two books of life lesson spiritual fables: Tell Me a Story and Tell Me Another Story. Her peace fable The Mouse and the Light has been turned into a symphony and is part of the global peace initiative The Children's Global Arts Project, based in Victoria, Canada.

After living aboard a sailboat with her husband and sons for five years, Mrs. Suhay returned to land and began writing her fables for children and posting them online. At the same time she took up a freelance career, working mainly for the New York Times.
The fables were passed around from reader to reader around the world, until they finally found their way into the hands of publisher. These tales, spiritual/character lessons, were turned into two beautiful hard cover volumes by publisher (Paraclete Press) in Brewster Mass.
These original life-lesson fables are for children, but they are also written to help heal what has been broken in our own childhoods and went unrepaired. The tales were written to empower, uplift and provide tools for continuing character education

Nadia Romanov

Nadia Romanov

A native Californian, I am the sole great-granddaughter of Rebecca Romanov, the renowned Romanian Gypsy of Busteni, Romania. I was named for her mother, the original Nadia Romanov. My great grandmother, Rebecca, came to America in her early 20’s and maintained our Gypsy heritage, and her extraordinary skills in tarot card, and tea leaf divination. Prior to her passing at age 86, she passed her knowledge along to me, and encouraged and nurtured my own natural magickal abilities, which were evident in me, even at a very young age.

While I obviously am descended from a magickal heritage, and magick has always been a part of me and my life, I have practiced as a solitary witch in the Wiccan tradition for nearly a decade. I have extensively studied many magickal and religious traditions including (but not limited to) Gypsy Magick, Kabbalistic Magick, Celtic Witchcraft, the Druidic path, Faery Wicca, and more. I have incorporated my knowledge from my studies, my lineage & family heritage, and years of dedication to the Path, into my personal practice.
I have been blessed to have two successful online metaphysical/witchy shoppes (Sexy Witchy and By Light of the Moon). (Both are now being combined to form the most magickal shopping experience I can conceive of – stay tuned!)
I am the proud (and single) mother of three wonderful teenagers. We have 3 cats, and 4 parakeets. We currently reside in Los Angeles.

Blessed Be.

Nigel Suckling

Nigel Suckling

"I've always rather envied those Victorian gentlemen scholars who used the leisure of their circumstances to energetically push back the boundaries of imagination in both the arts and sciences (while watching their split infinitives, of course), as opposed to the other toffs who simply indulged themselves with lives of ease and luxury. Unless in a previous life, I've not been that lucky, lacking the necessary independent wealth. But I have nevertheless been very fortunate in having been allowed, one way or another, to ride most of my hobby-horses anyway. Here in my imaginary mansion you can find most of them, beginning with some of the most recent. If you'd like to see where I really live, there is a secret passage hidden somewhere in the depths of the library that leads you there. It's a rather more humble environment but just as magical in its own way as anything you'll find in here. "

Susan Woywitka

Susan Woywitka

Bio Information can be found on her beautiful website, A Magical Life

Susan has a broad background in the magical. Magic for Susan is working with the invisible energies, the invisible realms. Her goal is to make them visible, understood or practical in the physical for use in daily life. Susan enjoys variety and practices her craft through a variety of disciplines.

Trained at the Nine Harmonies School of Feng Shui, Susan consults with clients helping them be in tune with the flow of universal energy. Feng shui supports the life of an individual at home or at their place of business through channeling and enhancing positive energy (chi).

Ritual uses the power of magic in a ceremony or celebration to mark an important event. Rituals add meaning to our lives, gives them importance.

Susan assists clients in developing and executing their own Rites of Passage. Examples are celebration (birthday), acknowledging the arrival of the new (menopause) or releasing the past (divorce).
A well-known, mysterious magical tool is the tarot. The beautiful intricate symbolism of the cards provide an attractive pathway into the intuitive and psychic realms. When Susan reads for clients, she works with the cards to offer understanding and guidance.

In the area of wellness, Susan is a Karuna and Usui reiki master, also a certified reflexologist. She augments her private sessions with aromatherapy, colour and tuning forks. All are ways of focusing, harmonizing and directing universal energy to promote balance and healingphysically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Susan is gifted in the realm of creativity. Having spent many years as a theatre artist, she is well able to assist others in accessing their own creativity which adds a magical depth and sparkle to life.

Also intuitive, Susan has worked to increase her perception, studying with such teachers as David Morehouse ("psychic spy" of the CIA's Stargate Program). Learning to pay attention to intuition and to access truth for oneself is perhaps the most empowering step anyone can take.

As her chosen path to healing her own personal psychology, Susan immersed herself in Celtic shamanism, completing the Master level. She was attracted to its highly magical disciplinesjourneying to Otherworld (the invisible realms), meeting spirit guides, power animals and the elementals in order to communicate and work with them, far seeing, dream walking, crafting magical tools, storytelling and writing poetry. Susan particularly enjoys assisting clients to connect with their spirit guides and power animals.

Susan offers classes in all the magical areas. As a bard (artist-shaman) in the Celtic tradition she often entwines music, stories and poetry with her teaching as the arts provide magical short-cuts into the invisible realms and promote spiritual understanding.

Swain Wodening

Englatheois a religous group dedicated to the revival of the ancient pagan religions of the Anglo-Saxons, specificly the Angles. Its aims are to bring back Anglo-Saxon Heathen religous practices in all forms both social and individual. This requires that we revive the worship of the ancient Anglo-Saxon pagan Gods and Goddesses, the rites through which we worship them, as well as the social institutions, customs, and traditions of the ancient Germanic tribes. To do so we attempt to forge and strengthen the bonds of community within our organization. The group is a part of a larger movement known as Theodish Belief, a form of Germanic Heathenry closely related to Asatru and Odinism.

Anglo-Saxon Heathenry is a modern religion based on the ancient pagan tribal religions of the Germanic tribes that moved into what is now England in the 5th century. These tribes are generally thought to be the Angles, Jutes, and Saxons, although portions of other tribes such as the Frisians may have migrated also. It is therefore closely related to the ancient Norse pagan religion and shares many of the deitites such as Odin (Woden) and Thor (Thunor).

Theodish Belief means "belief of the tribe," and comes from Old English Þéodisc Geléafa. Theodism maintains that worship of the Germanic Gods and Goddesses is best done in the form of a community. Therefore the community in the form of the theod or tribe is of utmost importance. Theodish Belief does not only reconstruct the religious beliefs of the ancient Germanic tribes, but also its cultural aspects as well. A theod is lead by a sacral leader who has certain duties they must perform to ensure the luck, health, and wealth of the tribe. The sacral leader is aided by an advisory council. Helping lead the tribe is the folkmoot, the free assembly of all adult members of the tribe. The folk come together to worship the Ése (Æsir) and Wen (Vanir) on a regular basis to strengthen the bonds between the folk and the Anglo-Saxon Heathen Gods and Goddesses. In doing so they also strengthen the bonds between each other.

Washington Irving

ashington Irving was born in New York City (near present-day Wall  Street) at the end of the Revolutionary War on April 3, 1783.  His parents, Scottish-English immigrants, were great admirers of General George Washington, and named their son after their hero.

Irving had many interests including writing, architecture and landscape design, traveling, and diplomacy. He is best known, however, as the first American to make a living solely from writing. Initially, he wrote under pen names;  one was "Diedrich   Knickerbocker." In 1809, using this pen name, Irving wrote A History of New-York that describes and pokes fun at the lives of the early Dutch settlers of  Manhattan. Eventually, this pen name came to mean a person from New York, and is where the basketball team The New York Knickerbockers (Knicks)got its name.

Irving enjoyed visiting different places and a large part of his life was spent  in Europe, particularly England, France, Germany, and Spain.  He often wrote about the places he visited. For example, Bracebridge Hall (1822) is a view of life in England, and The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus (1828), is about the Italian explorer who sailed under the Spanish flag. However, in spite of his foreign travels, Irving's imagination frequently drew upon his childhood memories of New York State.  These memories are reflected in letters that he wrote to family and friends from Europe, as well as in the stories from his most famous work, The Sketch-Book. Published in 1819 under another pen name, "Geoffrey Crayon, Gent," The Sketch-Book includes the short stories The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and  Rip Van Winkle.  The fictional Sleepy Hollow is actually the lower Hudson Valley area near Tarrytown, N.Y., and Rip Van Winkle sleeps through the entire Revolutionary War in the Catskill mountains of  upstate New York.

By the late 1820s, Irving had gained a reputation throughout Europe and America as a great writer and thinker. Because of his popularity, Irving received many important honors.  This Spanish were so pleased with Irving's writing that in 1828, they elected him to the Real Academia de la Historia.  In 1830, Irving received a gold medal in history from the Royal Society of Literature in London, and also received honorary degrees from Oxford, Columbia, and  Harvard.

Trained as a lawyer, Irving was active in the field of diplomacy.  In 1842, American President Tyler appointed him Minister to Spain - a position we would now call ambassador. This meant he traveled throughout Europe as a diplomatic representative of the United States.

Feeling a desire to be among fellow Americans and his family, in 1832 Irving returned from Europe to New York where he established his home Sunnyside in Tarrytown.  Irving never married or had children.  Rather, for the next twenty-five years he shared Sunnyside with his brother Ebenezer and Ebenezer's five daughters. During this period, when Irving traveled or was sent on a diplomatic mission, he always had a home and family to which to return.

Sunnyside was visited By many artists, politicians, writers, and other influential people.  Irving's home was publicized throughout the world in lithographs, magazines, and tourists maps. Images of  Sunnyside could even be found on cigar boxes, sheet music, and ceramic pitchers.

On November 28, 1859, on the eve of the Civil War, Washington Irving died at Sunnyside surrounded by his family. He was buried in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery at the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
