Creating Your Treasure Map

Salutations, readers!  What an incredible honor it is to be back, writing more on WishCraft for lovely people who are as intensely interested in co-creating their lives as I am.  Blessings and prosperity and wellness to all!

Last time, we considered the similarities between the global phenomenon known as The Secret to our age-old understanding and practice of WishCraft.  T hat is, manifesting your heart's desires and most passionate dreams through focused, positive thinking and supportive behaviors.  We talked about how WishCraft can positively and powerfully affect relationships, stress, careers and goals.

I also mentioned the fact that some are better at WishCrafting than others.  And that there are ways to improve one's WishCraft ability.  How there are most definitely some "Wishers Beware" admonitions (for when we receive something we aren't quite prepared for or the manifestation of something that is different from what we intended).  I'd like to focus on these things in coming WishCraft columns.  Today, let's isolate some of the ways one can improve their WishCraft sensibility.  Let's look closely at how YOU can up your WishCraft game, shall we?

To be fair, there are several ways one can attempt to increase success at WishCrafting.  I've experimented with all methods that I know of, have discarded many and embraced the few gems.  But before we discuss them (in future columns), I'd like to suggest that the first step toward manifesting your wishes and desires, is to KNOW with clarity who you are, what gives you a lift and what you really want.

These may seem like no brainers to you.  I cannot stress how vital it is for everyone who's serious about WishCraft to consider these points.  I have led online and spiritual groups long enough to know that very often, even the most mature or spiritually aware can be less than fully tuned in to their true nature, precisely what empowers them best and what they really desire with heart and soul.

Ready to do a little spiritual work with me, with the goal of fine-tuning your WishCraft capability?  Great, let's go!

Please join me in making a poster-board Treasure Map.  Before you come up with a gazillion reasons why you can't or don't want to do this exercise, just commit to doing it.  I assure you that once you have, you will be intensely glad you did.  Creating your Treasure Map sets the stage for successful WishCrafting.  How so?  Visually, you'll have a lot of "targets," to glance at throughout the day, won't you?  *grins*

What you'll need:

2 magazines   Spend no more than a dollar or two on a couple of magazines you won't mind cutting up.  You can also use old mags you've got lying around the house.

1 pair of scissors

1 poster board

1 glue stick

1 extra large mug of coffee, cup of tea or glass of wine

Get yourself to a comfy spot and situate yourself comfortably.  Have that beverage close at hand.  The idea is to be relaxed so you can really throw yourself into this exercise.  I think you'll be amazed at how much you enjoy it.  What's that?  You say you've already made vision boards?  Great!  But this is different.  Your Treasure Map is for the here and now; the up and coming future.  Why not commit to WishCrafting by ceremoniously kicking off your process by creating a Treasure Map?

Open the magazines and going through them page by page.  Take your time.  Clip any photo, word or phrase that jumps out at you.  There are three themes I'd like you to have in mind as you do: (1) Who I am; (2) What empowers me; (3) The life I want.

If you spy a photograph of a bowl of hearty soup and you realize cooking or good comfort food is something you really enjoy, clip it.  If you happen to notice the word "Passion" and it catches your eye, clip it.  If you see a sunny sky and you are reminded of how the sun fuels and charges you, clip that photo.  Perhaps an image of a couple embraced will remind you of the romance you would like.  Clip that photo, too.  Clip any and all photos or phrases that call out to you.

Once you're finished, separate everything into piles representing the three themes.  In the end, you should have three mounds of photographic images and language art to depict precisely who you are, what empowers you and what it is you desire for your life.  In short, you will have three categories which aptly provide 'targets' for your WishCrafting.

Now, reach for your poster board and glue stick.  Arrange all your clippings into appealing groupings.  You can even label them by theme: WHO I AM, WHAT EMPOWERS ME, THE LIFE I WANT.  You may be surprised at how in touch you feel with YOU.

How can all this me-ism help you to experience WishCraft?  It isn't me-ism in the least.  I promise you: developing a close personal relationship with the soul inhabiting your body will bring you into harmony with yourself.  And that, dear readers, benefits everyone around you.  It also helps you to hone in on the essence that is you: the pure spiritual energy which is used to fuel WishCraft.

When I recently made my Treasure Map, I also wrote words and phrases onto the poster board.  I wrote things like "my magick is real" and "successful writer".  Those types of personal additions can be reminders to make time to do what you love (which in turn creates a happier you, which in turn maximizes your potential for successful WishCrafting) and more 'targets' for your WishCraft.

Once your Treasure Map is complete, take a few moments in sacred space to commune with the images, the energy.  I cannot stress enough how vital it is for you to be in positive awareness about what it is that you love and wish for.  I'll gently point out that when we are in a state of positive awareness, there isn't much room for negative energy.  Such informed readers as yourself are aware that negative energy is an instant FAIL when it comes to WishCraft.  If you think for one moment that you can be angry, cynical, argumentive, stressful, pessimistic, fearful, doubtful or just pissed off in general and still engage in success WishCrafting, then think again.

I will repeat for emphasis: negative energy cancels out, sabotages and utterly ruins all chances for WishCraft.

We will focus on that in detail, next time.  Know this: I am sometimes sillier than a bed bug, but I am no fool.  I realize that avoiding anger, upset, stress or negative thinking in general, is sometimes unavoidable.  This is life; stuff happens.  And when it does, even the most magickal individuals are challenged to maintain a consistent level of positive energy.  So next time, we will look in depth at ways to effectively release negative energy and maintain an appropriate level of positive energy.  Which - say it with me - increases your chances at fulfilling your WishCraft potential.

As with all Mysteries, no magick works presto, chango!  We must be willing to do the work and stay with the process.  If you are, then you will absolutely see results.  Of that I am certain.  Commit to doing what is necessary, and you'll be certain too.

Until next time, I'd like to leave you with a challenge.  Take a look at that Treasure Map of yours.  What one thing jumps out at you, immediately?  Is it a photograph?  A word?  A feeling?  Latch onto that one thing (please, for the sake of this challenge, hone in on just one thing) and focus on it.  Let the idea of that one thing permeate your mind and inhabit your thoughts.  Allow yourself to zero in on the emotion that goes along with it.  As you'll learn in future columns, emotion is the ultimate power behind any form of magick, including WishCraft and even the most basic LOA activity.

Think of your one thing daily, then increase that to several times a day.  Feel the emotion - satisfaction? sense of achievement? excitement? fulfillment? passion? - each time you think of it.

Now, wait and see how long it takes for that one thing to manifest in your life.  Yes, this is an experiment of sorts.  I want you to experience WishCraft for yourself.  The more you know it's real and possible, the more you will believe in yourself and the easier routine and even random WishCrafting will become.

Bear in mind that the larger the 'target' the longer it will take to manifest.  A new car, for example, usually takes a bit longer to manifest than the money to buy a couple of new outfits, understandably so.  A more harmonious workplace usually takes more time to come about than increased harmony in your home.  And so on...  Give your wishes time.  Give yourself time.

If your wish does not manifest by next column (or this winter, or next year...) do not be harsh with yourself.  As they say, good things come to those who wait and no one ever became an expert at anything overnight.  The more you move into alignment with who you are, what empowers you and what you want; the more adept you will most assuredly become at clearing negative energy and invoking positive energy.  The greater your WishCraft abilities will be.

See you next month,

Jo Lynne
