Samhain/Halloween Games/Activities for Kids
1. "BucketBall"....(for younger children 2-5) vertically line up four to five sauce pans that you have numbered and taped various cutouts of ghosts, bats and jack-o-lanterns on. Put a piece of tape across the floor horizontally in front of the first bucket. Grab a foam golf-sized ball for them to toss into the pans. For older children you can use decorated sand pails or plastic cups for them to throw the balls into, which makes it a little more challenging as the holes are smaller.
2. "Halloween Bingo"...Draw a bingo board on construction paper and draw or glue on photos of bats, ghosts, coffins(etc..) and use mini candy covered chocolates or mini circle shaped crackers to cover the pictures as they are called out. The winner of the game gets to call the next game or holiday pencils or stickers can be given as rewards.
3. "Jack's Lantern"...Draw a pumpkin on posterboard and cut out flames for each child to represent the candle inside the Jack-O-Lantern. Blindfold each child(one at time LOL) and have them tape the flame on the pumpkin. The child closest to "Jack's" mouth wins.
4. Remembrance Circle: For children ages 5 and up have them sit in a circle with you and ask them to remember a pet, or family member who has passed on. Let them share a special memory about that person or pet and then ask them if they'd like to draw them a special picture. Take some chalk outside and let them draw a special picture for that person/pet that they miss.
