Threshold is a spiritually moving tale of inspiration weaving several religions and mystical beliefs that makes this one book you can not put down until the very end. I finished this book in 3 days leaving me with more questions than answers on life after death, the many beautiful religious systems and beliefs and wanting to further research and discuss the life lessons that are brought forth in this thought provoking novel.

Threshold centers around Cole Dillon, a twelve year old boy who experiences a near death experience while trapped under lake water and nearly drowns. He is saved by Elijah Thunderbird, the ranch overseer and Native American shaman. Due to Ejijah's Shamanic background, Cole is saved and returns with the understanding there is a very important mission and task he needs to complete, one that will save many lives. Unfortunately after recovering from his trauma and ordeal, Cole is unable to remember exactly what task he was given to do.

Aside from Cole's task he has been given to do, Dark Spirits have also followed him back materializing in several forms such as hate, violence, and ignorance, creating havoc on those closest to him. With the help of Elijah  and other people, Cole is guided on his path and remembering what it is he was brought back to do.

Threshold focuses on spirituality, religion and near death experience, as well as family relationships and prejudices. Lessons we all could learn from personally as well as society as a whole. A beautiful tapestry of life, love, relationships and hope!

This is the very first book I have read from Devin and it certainly will not be my last. I was thoroughly absorbed by all the characters and cared very deeply for each of their stories and it was also very easy to believe that the town of Deer Lake could truly exist. As a reader I was thoroughly enmeshed with the book in it's entirety and would highly recommend Threshold to anyone and everyone!
